But you know what is funny?

Racist and/or classist jokes, as long as they issue forth from the mouth of someone who appears to be suitably non-white. (Such as Chris Rock or Dave Chappelle.) 

Prison rape jokes, because you know, the crime of rape is infinitely less horrifying and violent because the victim is presumably a convicted criminal in a correctional facility and/or a man. (It’s pretty sad that I’ve never seen a single rape joke critic bring this up ever.)

Cannibalism jokes, because naturally getting the shit beaten out of you and having your face partially eaten off by a drug-addled attacker isn’t anywhere near as traumatic and horrifying as rape. (Plus we live in a time where zombie culture is popular and mainstream, so of course we’re fucking making light of this incident.)

I bring this up, again, because I see posts about so-called rape culture on my dash, yet the folks who crow about rape jokes ignore all sorts of other shit that’s equally offensive. I think it’s a wee bit inappropriate to single out the rape of women as something that’s sacrosanct and untouchable in comedy unless you’re going to be consistent and criticize people for all of the other fucked up things that people joke about. (Including your fellow social justice advocates and/or people of color who ignore this other shit.)
