Apparently, it’s a popular notion now to simply assume that every man you speak to is a potential rapist (but especially white guys), at least in some circles. (But at the same time, somehow, the same folks think that notion isn’t racist or sexist, to hear them speak of it.)

*SIGH* Tell me more about how hard it is to be a cis-gendered white male. Tell me about the racist struggles you face because POC might be (logically) weary of people with your skin tone. Let’s just be honest for a second, MOST RAPISTS ARE MEN… LIKE, THE OVERWHELMING MAJORITY. I’m sure in some obscure, overreaching part of your mind you can come up with WHAT ABOUT IF XYZ happened but anyway, most rapists are men. Now that we’ve established that, I don’t know where you are getting it from that the new trend is to think of all white men as rapists? Personal experience or something? Maybe you just come off as super aggressive or creepy.
It’s appalling that you think that because maybe some person thought of you or someone you know as a rapist that white men are the ~true victims~ or racism/sexism/rape culture. There is no privilege like the privilege of being a cis-gendered white male. I don’t understand why you’re so angry. You know what I’m angry about? The mental checklist of shit I have to consider to give myself the best chance at not being sexually assaulted. Do you know what that feels like? The uneasy feeling of walking past a group of men in the night? Having your buddies pair off at a party and then forcing yourself to sobriety because you fear being taken advantage of in a weakened state? So, some people might think you a potential rapist. That sucks. Here’s an idea - just don’t be one. Prove that person wrong. Because you know what’s way worse than some people thinking you might be a rapist? Consistently living with the threat of actually being raped and in a lot of cases, having that threat realized.

*SIGH* Tell me more about how hard it is to be a cis-gendered white male.
I appreciate that you rebutted my point with logic and evidence, rather than resorting to personal attacks. Classy.
Tell me about the racist struggles you face because POC might be (logically) weary of people with your skin tone.
That sentence alone was racist.
Let’s just be honest for a second, MOST RAPISTS ARE MEN… LIKE, THE OVERWHELMING MAJORITY.
Clearly, that wasn’t the point I was making. (If you took time to read the post.) The point I was making is that it’s pretty illogical to accuse all white men of being potential rapists and simultaneously trying to claim that you oppose racist and sexist thinking. And, what you’re writing proves my point.
I don’t know where you are getting it from that the new trend is to think of all white men as rapists?
Sorry for not being clear on that, I’ve just seen other folks reacting to posts that show up on their dashes. I’ve seen a few posts in the tags that suggest this as well, and I found it to be a pretty offensive (and frankly, stupid) notion. Judging by the notes and the high-fives in these posts, it seemed pretty popular.
Maybe you just come off as super aggressive or creepy.
Not at all. I’m cheeky and fun.
It’s appalling that you think that because maybe some person thought of you or someone you know as a rapist that white men are the ~true victims~ or racism/sexism/rape culture.
Now you’re just setting up a straw man. I never said that either. Look at my answer above for what I actually said, and the point I made was pretty simple and clear I think.
There is no privilege like the privilege of being a cis-gendered white male.
I never disputed that either.
I don’t understand why you’re so angry.
Hypocritical people saying stupid things annoy me.

Okay, but given the information posted by someone else in another response to my post, the number they provided of people who said they’d admit anonymously to being serial rapists stands at 4%. Given that percentage, I’d say that it’s pretty illogical to assume that all men are rapists.
That sucks. Here’s an idea - just don’t be one.
I’m not, and apparently 96% of us aren’t either. That’s why it’s stupid and wrong to assert that all men are potential rapists, again.
