When someone (usually a christian) calls me an ‘asshole atheist,’ I can’t help but smile.

Especially when you think that as recently as 300 years ago, (NOW if you live in the middle east) I would be imprisoned and executed for the opinions that I express.

Even the most innocent statement, like questioning the wisdom of paying two thirds of my year’s salary to the church could land me in prison. My utterance overheard by some neighbor and reported to the authorities who dutifully come and arrest me, I could then expect a visit by a local clergyman who would then preside over my ‘confession.’

Basically, I would suffer unspeakable tortures, whilst the clergyman no doubt faps to my death screams. My scrotum would be crushed, and my fingernails ripped off. I might even have a special device shoved up my ass if I were arrested for ‘aggravated homosexuality,’ and this device would be opened inside my rectum, ripping it apart.

Then, when my screams begin to ebb, and my confession given, I would either be dismembered on the rack or burned at the stake.

My how far we have come. Now I am merely called an asshole for taking issue with religion because STILL they obstruct human inquiry, and still stand in the way of human rights. Especially the muslim religion.

Don’t any of you free thinkers out there ever let a christian give you shit for your opinion. We have earned the right to speak our minds, and we’ve paid for it with blood.

Not only that, but Muslim countries have dragged alleged blasphemers back via Interpol. It’s sickening.
