Honestly, I wish America would forgive and forget.  I believe that, by any reasonable measure, our revenge for the 9/11 incident was much worse than the event itself.  We displaced millions of people, killed hundreds of thousands, tortured innocents, destroyed our economy, supported extra-judicial surveillance on our own citizens (and assassination), violated the sovereignty of our allies, and ruined our international reputation.
