I may be the only one disappointed in the presidential debates at this point.

They’ve become entertainment.  Pissing contests.  We’ve not seen either candidate articulate anything that deviates from their predominant partisan views, and really, I think we’d be better served as voters hearing both sides taken to task on issues where both parties have a consensus:

  1. Bloated military budgets. (ie, why does our military need to be 20 times larger than our next largest competitor, at the cost of feeding people?)
  2. Iran.  (I’d like just one person other than Glenn Greenwald to get in these guys’ faces and dissent from the popular, and false view that Iran is actually a threat to the US.)
  3. Trillions in aid for Wall Street. (How does this help us when Wall Street sends this money offshore or sits on it?)
  4. Unmitigated drone warfare/torture/secret prisons/surveillance/permanent imprisonment without trial, and with zero accountability.

And, failing that, why can’t I see the third party candidates debate these jokers? They’re the only ones offering any new ideas these days.
