As much as I dislike Obama, if the economy is the most important issue to you, there is absolutely no choice.
We’ve seen the Republican response to the recession, and it’s consequences, in Europe. (Which you might have noticed were calamitous, so much so that several European governments are now turning to bailouts to rescue them from Republican economic policies.) Cutting spending wholesale in the middle of a recession is poisonous. (And it’s not the first time we’ve seen this. Remember Hoover?) An economy without spending experiences zero growth, and without growth an economy cannot recover. What some folks call ‘wasteful spending’ is, in fact, goods and services purchased by the government, mostly in America, which keeps people employed and American factories producing.
Also, some please tell me how Mitt plans to triple military spending (which the Pentagon themselves has said is unnecessary), while cutting taxes even more so than Bush or Obama, and still balance the budget?
So, if that’s your only issue, I say no. We cannot trust Republicans. They gave us our first ever drop in our national credit rating because they were willing to throw the economy under the bus to unseat Obama, an action that would have harmed ALL American businesses if they had succeeded. Democrats on the other hand gave us two and a half years of consistent job growth from an economy that was hemorrhaging 700,000 jobs a month when Barack Obama took office.
