I’m posting this because a spam status is being forwarded around my Facebook newsfeed, and I can’t let this idiocy go without comment.

To those of you among my friends who truly believe that illegal immigrants get free health care, business tax breaks, education, and other benefits… I kindly direct you to factcheck.org.

That assertion is the logical equivalent of a steaming pile of cow dung, and has been debunked for several years now. The reality is that most illegal immigrants either work under the table and don’t qualify for any tax benefits, or they work in a legitimate job using false information, and still don’t qualify for tax benefits. so let’s please dispense with the idiotic notion that illegal workers are somehow getting a sweet deal by being exploited for slave wages. The system needs massive reform because we can’t logistically (or financially afford to) deport an estimated ten million people, a large percentage of which  have spent their entire lives in this country. (Not to mention the inhumanity of punishing millions of children and destroying millions of families in the process.)

Those are my thoughts… tear them apart as you like.  Thank you.

It doesn’t sit well with me that McChrystal dishonored a soldier’s memory to keep George Bush from looking like an idiotic jerkoff, and was then more than willing to go to the media and embarrass a Democratic president once the tables turned.

However, it’s the Washington way to reward scoundrels and incompetents with government posts, so this shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Per ABC News:

President Obama appointed retired General Stanley McChrystal to co-chair a commission on military families this week, but according to perhaps the most prominent military family of the last decade, McChrystal is unfit for that duty.

Mary Tillman, mother of Pat Tillman, the former professional football player turned Army Ranger who was tragically killed by friendly fire 7 years ago, is angered by McChrystal’s appointment, telling ABC News that he was part of the propaganda effort pushing the false tale that Tillman had been killed by the enemy, and keeping the truth from the world — and their family.

“I was actually pretty shocked to hear it; I don’t think it’s the appropriate choice,” Tillman told ABC News. “Considering that we have plenty of evidence indicating that McChrystal was involved in the cover-up of Pat’s death…he’s not the right person for that kind of a job.”

Tillman says the president’s appointment of McChrystal “makes him look foolish, frankly.”

She tells ABC News that “someone who has a heartfelt desire to help families would not have been involved in the cover-up of a soldier’s death, especially one that they used to promote a war.”

McChrystal — who declined comment to ABC News — was the commander of special operations in Afghanistan when Tillman was killed in April 2004. Soon after McChrystal wrote his commanders an urgent memo that, “It is highly possible that Corporal Tillman was killed by friendly fire.”

Having heard President George W. Bush might speak publicly about Tillman, McChrystal wrote to his higher ups to make sure they knew the truth so as to “preclude any…public embarrassment if the circumstances of Corporal Tillman’s death become public.”

Pay particular attention to the comments, where many enthusiastic folks are pointing out the numerous flaws in the image.  For those of you who readily bought this obvious propaganda, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

A sign held by one of the protesters in this viral image of a May Day immigration reform rally reads: “Give Us Free Health Care, Jobs, No Taxes, House, Food. You Owe Us America! We Will Shoot More Police in Arizona Until We Get Free!”

Despite the widespread claim that it was taken in Phoenix, Arizona, visual landmarks indicate the photo was snapped in Los Angeles, where a large pro-immigrant demonstration did take place on May 1, 2010.

So far no one has been able to authenticate the image, which many suspect was Photoshopped to alter the wording of the sign. Any information on its provenance, particularly with regard to locating an original, unretouched version of the image, would be greatly appreciated.
