Very true.
That is, when someone on my facebook feed whines about Obama’s economic record, but doesn’t actually make a note of why they dislike it, I ask for reasons.
And, most folks don’t seem to be aware that there are legitimate reasons to dislike Obama’s economic policy (such as the continuing irrelevance of the middle class to corporate profits) yet these people have no idea what they are.
They just repeat slogans, and it makes me sad.
That’s on top of blocking additional embassy security funding requests by Secretary Clinton, cutting funding for embassy security that was already in place, and ignoring all of the lies and crimes committed by the Bush Administration with regards to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. (Including but not limited to exposing CIA agents, torture, renditions, and lying about the existence of WMD’s.)
And, to make things even worse in my eyes, these idiotic Congressional Republicans held yet another pointless symbolic vote to repeal HCR today. (That makes, what, fifty? How many wasted hours does that make?)
whoever wrote this line needs to receive a medal
This is probably true, but let’s be honest here, there are millions of women (at least in the US) lining up in support of regressive abortion laws. This isn’t just a ‘man’ problem. It’s a Christian problem.
The sadder thing is that many of those women still want to get their abortions on the sly when they get pregnant unintentionally.
So, there’s a ban on religious proselytizing coming for the US Military. (Religous, meaning the other religions too and not just Christianity.)
Therefore, naturally, Christians are pissy about it. (After all, what value is their religion if they can’t bug people who don’t want to hear about it?)
When are they going to complain about being ordered to commit war crimes, I wonder? Where’s their Christianity when they’re being told to drop a bomb on a wedding party or first responders in Afghanistan? Or a sixteen year-old kid in Yemen?
Where’s your Christianity then, jesus freaks? Thou shalt not kill, right?
We don’t need leaders who are affable, entertaining, funny, friendly, or hip. Hiring the best children’s entertainer seems to be the ultimate outcome of western liberal democracy.
“Oh, that guy likes the Bee Gees too! We could be friends. If we can’t be neighbours, well, then I guess the next best thing would be to put him in a position of power.”
This is something that really annoys me about Tumblr: Folks who seem to think that Obama’s a swell guy simply because he makes nerd references, as if he isn’t dropping bombs on innocent people across the world. Hell, he made it legal to kill people during torture… so what do we care if he’s into fucking Star Wars?
Am I the only one who sees the irony in an admitted pedophile calling ANYONE sexual insults? (Never mind the fact that his accomplishments pale in comparison to the people he is denigrating.)
And, honestly, I can’t imagine that disgusting redneck anywhere near the Capitol dome without laughing my ass off. Is this REALLY the best you can do, GOP?
Someone had the audacity and the ignorance to suggest to me that Republicans lost the election due to redistricting. That silly excuse is a distraction from the real problem. Here’s a short list detailing why I think that is complete bullshit, having watched Republicans turn the people against them in just two short years:
Redistricting, my foot. Keep repeating that to yourself as John ‘Crybaby’ Boehner and Mitchy ‘Filibuster my own bill’ McConnell drive you guys even further into the ditch.
